A new tool to track progress and identify gaps in health programming in Zambia has been launched. The Zambia "Integrated Health Situation Room" centralizes data for HIV, tuberculosis, maternal and child health and malaria to improve programming and reach more people with services.
The situation room—the first integrated situation room in Africa—was launched on 6 March 2018 by the Vice President of the Republic of Zambia, Ms. Inonge Mutukwa Wina. It shows real-time service delivery data and produces a comprehensive picture of key health indicators in Zambia, while enabling quick feedback on results at the county and community levels.
In a Statement delivered by the Vice President of the Republic of Zambia Ms. Inonge Wina, President Edgar Chagwa Lungu underscored Governments' commitment to investing in innovative approaches aimed at improving health service delivery in Zambia, as articulated in Zambia's 7th National Development Plan.
Also seaking at the launch, UNAIDS Executive Director Mr. Michel Sidebe’ commended the Government of the Republic of Zambia for prioritizing the health and wellbieng of its citizens, noting that the Health Situation Room will enable health staff to further improve the provision of quality service delivery to clients.
